Best of 2017 + Resolutions for 2018

December 21, 2017

2017 has been, interesting, so to say.

I've compiled a list (along with photos) of my favorite things, and memories!

BEST MEMORIES:

- Traveling to Palm Springs with VS PINK. Being apart of CollegeFashionista had not only brought out my creativity, and allowed me to express my passions in one area, but it allowed me to collaborate with amazing brands. I was chosen to participate in the collab with VS PINK, and they flew me to Palm Springs, Cali along with other Fashionistas! I met a ton of new best friends, and girls who continue to inspire me everyday. It was the trip of a lifetime, and definitely my best memory.

- Traveling to Paris. I'd always wanted to visit Paris, though I was a bit shocked and it wasn't what I expected it to be but it was still so much fun! Seeing the Mona Lisa, and the Notre Dame, and of course the Eiffel Tower. My favorite was the Arc de Triompe!

- Hiking the Hollywood Sign. I'd never been as close to the sign as I was during my last trip to L.A; it was so much fun. I'm not a huge hiker, or out doors person, but you don't even need to be for a hike like that. It was very easy and capable for anyone - however, I suggest not going on a 90 degree day lol.

- Jet Skiing in CancĂșn. It was my first time ever and I had a blast! My best friend, Marisol, convinced me to go and it was more fun than I thought. I was so nervous, but I left wanting to buy my own jet ski!

- Riding horses in Dallas. Marisol and I traveled to Dallas this Summer as I always wanted to visit a place completely different than my home town (NYC), and Dallas couldn't be any different. We spent two hours horse back riding in the country, and it was beautiful.

- Getting a 'real' job. I work at a card store, and I love it. I've met so many great people, and it feels so good to have a job that is flexible, and manageable.

- Graduating from college! I cannot believe I can officially say I'm a college graduate. It has been a long, and difficult couple of years in school but I finally made it. ... Wow.

RESOLUTIONS:

- Get a job in my field, or atleast freelance in my field. As a writer, I probably won't get a job writing permanently for a magazine (as much as I'd like to think I will), so if I can freelance and sell pieces here and there that would be great.

- Move to California. I plan on moving at the end of the Summer in 2018, and I will make it happen, no matter what! My heart belongs in Cali.

- Travel to Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, Bora Bora. My generous Mom is treating me to a trip to Australia, and since we'll be on that end of the world, we want to travel around that area. (July probably!!)

- Complete 90% of my novel. I'm currently writing a fiction book, and I would like to have it 90% finished. There will still be so much editing, and cutting, and adding to it - but atleast if I can get most of it all written down it'll be much easier to edit.

- Travel with friends more. My best friend, Marisol, and I have so many trips planned for next year! I want to start traveling with some new friends I've met too!

- Self publish my travel book. WHAT! I'm currently working on publishing a book on all of my travels from the past 2-3 years. It'll be a diary style. I'm so excited!

- Continue going to the gym, and eating healthy. I've lost 15 lbs in this past year, by just eating healthy, and consistently going to the gym! It's not so much about losing weight, but just overall feeling good.

- Be less stressed. I'm always putting myself in situations where I feel trapped, or upset. I need to stop thinking I'm superman and I can do everything. I need breaks, I need time off, I need my sleep. And sometimes, being a little selfish, is okay.

- Get published in various writing platforms (magazines, lit journals, etc). I've held back for fear of rejection (which I know will happen) but I can't be rejected - or accepted - if I don't send things out!!

- Travel around the U.S more. I want to visit Juneau, Alaska. Marfa, Texas. Portland, Oregon. Seattle, Washington. Salt Lake City, Utah. Santa Fe, New Mexico. Etc etc. I know I won't get to all of those places this year, but hopefully some!!

- Travel. Travel. Travel.

WHERE I TRAVELED:

- Cabo San Lucas, Mexico
- Charleston, South Carolina
- Las Vegas, Nevada
- Paris, France
- Palm Springs, California
- CancĂșn, Mexico
- Washington D.C, USA
- Dallas, Texas
- Bahamas, Nassau
- Cape Cod, Massachusetts
- Laguna Beach + Los Angeles, California.

11 trips, not bad!! It's been interesting exploring different parts of the United States, and I have so many trips (both in the U.S & out) planned for next year!

Hope you guys enjoyed this. 2017, honestly, wasn't the best. I struggled with a terrible job at the beginning of the year, lost a best friend, didn't travel as far as I thought I would. BUT. I gained new friends, I got a better job, I wrote better stories, I dreamed further.

I can't wait to see what 2018 will have in store for me.

Remember,
you are the gate holder
to your dreams -
and to your destiny.
