Finding Inspiration ~

January 28, 2016

Hey guys.... this is a different kind of post. I wanted to share where I find inspiration & what inspires me. Lately I've been finding different kinds of inspiration and I want to channel it into my blog, my photographs, my life, and my art.

Generally, I think tumblr is my biggest social media platform that I find inspiration on. Most of the photos that I'm going to show are from tumblr & I'm going to show you guys different categories of inspiration.

** disclaimer: i own no rights to any of the following photos -- ownership goes to the photographer :)

Colors:

I've been really into different colors and color mixing. I've been wanting to try mixing colors in my outfits and other sorts like that. i love vivid color and color clashing. i've also been wanting to mix different shades of the same color - i think that's really dope. dark greens, light greens, etc!! some of these photos have really caught my eyes & been inspiring. When it comes to fashion black/gray/white are the 3 main colors I think people wear and sometimes colors can get lost in translation. So I think having colors in other ways, like decor, nails, jewelry, etc!

Vintage things.

I've also been really into thrift shops, antique shops, vintage signs, ads, and more. Here's some photos I found from tumblr that are really cute and inspiring. I've been wanting my mom's old record player for so long and she bought me my own for my birthday last year... so I can cross that off the list, and I also have a good collection of vintage cameras. I'm also saving up for a type writer, that's pink(!!!!) on Etsy. I'm really into collection vintage pieces of clothing and accessories too! Photographically, I'm also obsessed with looking at vintage homes/decor and such!! I'm more into the homes in the 50s, 60s, and 70s. The home decor is just unreal and I would love to live in a home during those eras!!

Beauty.

I've been really into makeup and fun looks! Not necessarily on me, as I've been going for a natural look lately, but some of these makeup looks are art pieces in themselves. I think fashion/makeup is art. I think the human body is art. I think art is everything and these makeup looks are outstanding and I would love to be able to create something like these pieces. Obviously, they are makeup-artists, key word is artist. But doing makeup on someone's face is, to me, harder than creating art on paper. It takes a certain kind of 3-D skill and I'm diggin' these looks! I'm really bad at styling hair, but I'm really into hairstyles. I've been wanting to change things up with my hair. I had pink ends over the summer and I loved the look and styling it. If I could do hair styles I would always have a cute do, I added some of my faves here. :~))

Fashion.
Of course, I have to include fashion, because it's a huge part of my life!! Tumblr is my major platform where I find and get fashion inspiration. I like to take what I see, pieces, or styles and incorporate it into my own style. I don't think I've ever "copied" a style, maybe I've seen a piece of clothing and I've gotten it but I style myself for myself and by myself. Tumblr is where I find trends, my own trends, evolution of styles, etc. I also really love looking at other people's fashion senses, favorites, outfits, styles and other sorts of things because it's so fun. I feel like I always learn something new about myself and my style through others. I also incorporate the other categories I mentioned, like vintage and colors, into my style and outfits. All of these some together in how I express myself through clothes and what not.

I hope you guys enjoyed this post, it's a bit different, but I think these kinds of posts and things are fun! I love seeing what inspires other people and how they incorporate things into one another :)

I'm also going to be doing another talking about music, photography, etc, so stay tuned ~~

- xoxo Allie
